Piyush Goyal Meets with Food Sector Leaders in GCC, to Promote Trade and Investment

DUBAI, UAE – Piyush Goyal, the Union Minister of Commerce and Industry of India,  meets the major traders of food industry in GCC and Egypt  focusing on enhancing trade relations. Goyal engaged in interactive sessions with major food importers from these regions and addressed the issues.He highlighted the vast potential that the GCC and Egyptian markets hold for Indian food exports, given their strong focus on quality and halal standards. One pressing concern discussed was the issue  of certifications related to food imports.Other issues related to import and export of food items between India and the wider GCC market were presented and suitable solutions discussed. Minister Goyal emphasized the vast potential that the GCC and Egyptian markets hold for Indian food exports. These markets, known for their strong focus on quality and standards, present significant opportunities for Indian producers.

Minister also met with leading Indian Chartered Accountants based in the UAE. The interaction focussed on enhancing the India-UAE relationship. Minister encouraged the CA community to contribute to the ‘Amrit Kaal’ of India. Goyal also discussed India's ambitious plans for renewable energy investment, including significant investments in solar and wind energy, rooftop solar installations, and investments in green hydrogen and green ammonia. Sustainability was a recurring theme, with a commitment to the circular economy and environmentally responsible practices to promote sustainable economic growth.

Goyal's visit to Dubai serves as a significant step towards realizing these objectives, bolstering India's presence in the GCC, Egypt, and the broader Middle East region.
