In Bihar, the world-famous Pitripaksha Mela was started today in the pilgrimage city of Gaya. Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha inaugurated the event at the function organized at Vishnu Pad temple. It will conclude on 2nd October.
Devotees from different parts of the country have come to perform rituals. According to the Hindu tradition, Pitripaksha is 15 days dedicated to tributing one’s ancestors.
This year around 15 lakh footfalls of pilgrims are expected at Gaya to perform the ritual at Vishnupad Temple and banks of Falgu river. District Magistrate of Gaya Dr. Thiyagrajan S.M. said elaborate arrangements have been made for Pitripaksha Mela.
