People bid fare to Maa Durga in West Bengal and Assam

In West Bengal, immersion of idols has begun on Bijoya Dashami today after the end of the Durga Puja. Some idols of household pujas were immersed yesterday also. The administration has made security arrangements at the ghats of important rivers and ponds for the immersion. Ghats of the Ganges, including Baje Kadamtala ghat, Doi ghat, Judgers ghat, Ahiritola ghat, Bagbazar ghat, and Ratan Babu ghat, have been decked up for idol immersion. River traffic police have been patrolling the area to avert any accidents.

In Assam, immersion of Durga idols is going on across the state today. District administrations have issued guidelines to be followed during immersion. Devotees in large numbers reached puja pandals for the last time to bid farewell to Goddess Durga with a hope to welcome again next year. In Guwahati city, immersion is underway in the Brahmaputra with enthusiasm.
