PCBs directed to take urgent steps for adopting dust abatement measures in view of deteriorating air quality in Delhi, NCR

Pollution Control Boards and the concerned agencies have been directed to take urgent steps for adopting dust abatement measures in view of deteriorating air quality in Delhi and NCR. Delhi’s overall Air Quality Index today reached 243 which is in the poor category according to the daily AQI Bulletin from the Central Pollution Control Board.

 

Sub-Committee for invoking actions under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) of the Commission for Air Quality Management in NCR and adjoining areas met today to take stock of the current air quality scenario of Delhi-NCR. The Sub Committee has asked the concerned agencies to conduct intensive drives at major pollution hot-spots in the region by augmenting the number and frequency of water sprinklers. It was also directed to keep a close watch on fire instances and open burning of Municipal Solid Waste in NCR.
