Haryana Minister of State for Women and Child Development Kamlesh Dhanda has described the passage of the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam in the Rajya Sabha, following approval in the Lok Sabha, as a significant milestone for the empowerment of women. She said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has paved the way for the advancement of women in social, political, and economic spheres, earning the admiration of millions of Indian women.
Mrs Kamlesh Dhanda said that September 21 will be etched into Indian history with golden letters. She said Mr Modi had pledged from the Red Fort that India would progress on the path of women-centric development, and it marks the realization of that commitment. Kamlesh Dhanda also acknowledged the Bharatiya Janata Party's promise of granting 33 percent reservations to women in politics, which has endeared them to a significant portion of the population.
The Minister highlighted the transformative changes in women's empowerment over the past nine years. She said that Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, who has appointed more women in his cabinet compared to previous governments, has worked towards providing underprivileged women with domestic gas cylinders under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. She said, initiatives such as constructing toilets under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and addressing gender imbalances through the Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao campaign have contributed to shifting societal perspectives.
She further said that women's empowerment has been advanced through initiatives like the Har Ghar Jal Abhiyan, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Poshan Abhiyan, granting Permanent Commission in the Army to women, and the abolition of the triple talaq law.
Smt. Kamlesh Dhanda asserted that the enactment of the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam would not only increase women's participation at the national and state levels but would also make it more straightforward to acknowledge their capabilities in various fields.
