Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joishi accuses senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi of doing politics & creating controversy regarding upcoming Parliament Session

The Government today asserted that the special session of Parliament has been convened after following established procedures and earlier political parties were never consulted in advance for calling the Session. It added that it is the prerogative of the Government to call a Session and the agenda of the Session was never disclosed in advance even during the previous governments. Responding to senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi's letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking the agenda of the Session, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joishi accused her of doing politics over it. He said, it is unfortunate that despite being a senior Parliamentarian, the former Congress President is trying to create controversy regarding the upcoming Session. The Minister expressed hope that all the parties will extend their full cooperation in maintaining the dignity of the Parliament adding that the Government is always ready to discuss any issue.

Earlier, in her letter, Sonia Gandhi had said the Session was called without any prior consultation with the Opposition. A special session of Parliament will be convened from the 18th to the 22nd of this month.
