Parliament adjourned till noon

Both the Houses of Parliament have been adjourned till 2 PM following DMK and some other opposition MPs protest over proposed delimitation of Lok Sabha and assembly constituencies. In the Lok Sabha, when the House met after the first adjournment at Noon, DMK MPs were again seen wearing T-shirts in protest of the proposed delimitation. The Presiding Officer objected to the attire of protesting members. The DMK MPs and some Congress members created noisy scenes leading to the adjournment of the House till 2 PM. In the morning, when the House met for the day, it was adjourned till Noon following Speaker Om Birla’s objection to the attire of DMK MPs who were wearing T-shirts in protest of the proposed delimitation. Mr. Birla underlined that the House will run as per the rules. He added that some members are undermining the rules and dignity of the House. The Speaker said he would not allow the violation of rules by asking the opposition members not to wear T-shirts with slogans. He urged them to leave the House. But DMK and some other opposition MPs created noisy scenes.

The Rajya Sabha also witnessed three adjournments over the issue. In the morning it was first adjourned till 12 Noon minutes after it met for the day. Later, the House was adjourned till 12.15 and again till 2 PM amid deadlock over the issue of DMK MPs wearing T-shirts with slogans in the House.
