Paris Paralympics Day 6: Indian para athletes eye their chances in various events, including shooting, archery, and athletics

High on momentum, Indian para-athletes are eyeing their chances in various events including shooting, archery, and athletics on day six of the 2024 Paris Paralympics.

 

In para-shooting, star shooter Avani Lekhara, who has already won a gold medal, is currently in action in the women’s 50m rifle 3 positions final. The other Indian shooter in the field, Mona Agarwal, however, could not clear the qualification hurdle and ended in the 13th position. In Para-archery, Archer Pooja will feature in the women’s recurve event. In para-athletics, India’s Bhagyashri finishes in fifth with a best throw of 7.28m in the women’s shot put F34 final.

 

Deepthi Jeenanji will feature in the women’s 400m T20 final event. In the meantime, Mariyappan Thangavavelu, Sharad Kumar, and Shailesh Kumar will compete in the men’s high jump T63 final round. Ajeet Singh, Rinku, and Sundar Singh will also go for the men’s javelin throw F46 final.

India is at the 15th spot in the medal tally with 15 medals, including three golds.
