Panel Discussion at 18th MIFF delves into Funding and Monetization Strategies in Documentary Filmmaking

The 18th Mumbai International Film Festival for Documentary, Short Fiction, and Animation Films hosted a compelling panel discussion on the topic “Beyond The Lens: Funding and Monetization in Documentary Filmmaking” on Sunday. In the engaging session, Director of the Department of Information & Public Relations in Jammu & Kashmir, Jatin Kishore, Programming Director for the Asia-Pacific region at MUBI, Svetlana Naudiyal and others delved into innovative methods for financing and profiting from documentary productions, offering valuable insights for filmmakers seeking to bring their stories to life.


In a related development, a panel discussion on ‘Unveiling the Animation Frontier: Building Intellectual Properties Through Animation Films – Case Study: Ayalaan and Chhota Bheem’, was organised on the side lines of Mumbai International Film Festival today. As part of the discussion, legal expert on the entertainment sector Anamika Jha said that in India, creators need to understand the importance of registering their creative products and earning a right over it. The panel also had UK-based film critic Naman Ramachandran who delved into different aspects of growth of the animation market in India and elsewhere.
