In Pakistan, the National Assembly is all set to get dissolved today. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will be sending a summary for the dissolution of the National Assembly to President Dr Arif Alvi today.

The Shehbaz Sharif government had earlier announced to dissolve the assembly on the 9th of August, three days ahead of its mandated period. Once the assembly is dissolved, fresh elections will have to be held within 90 days. Addressing media, Prime Minister Sharif said that all the parties were unanimous in their view that elections should be held as soon as possible. Sharif also chaired a meeting of the federal cabinet to discuss the formation of a caretaker government.
