Over Rs 65,000 Crore Subsidy Provided for Phosphatic and Potassic Fertilizers in 2023-24: Union Minister Anupriya Patel

Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers Anupriya Patel has said that the Government has laid down reasonable guidelines for Phosphatic and Potassic (P&K) fertilizers which ensures that it is available at reasonable prices to farmers. In a written reply in the Lok Sabha on Friday, Ms Patel said, accordingly against the cost of 3,100 rupees per bag of DAP, it is being provided to the farmers at a maximum retail price of 1,350 rupees per bag. She said, a total subsidy of over 65,000 crore rupees was given in 2023-24 under Nutrient Based Subsidy scheme. The Minister said, the subsidy was over 86,000 crore rupees in 2022-23. Ms Patel said, the requirement of DAP during ongoing Rabi season 2024-25 was over 35 lakh tonnes, availability is over 37 lakh tonnes and the consumption till 2nd of December is over 28 lakh tonnes.  

       

Akashvani correspondent reports that the Union Cabinet had approved the proposal for fixing the Nutrient Based Subsidy, NBS rates for RABI Season 2024 from 1st October 2024 to 31st March 2025 on P&K fertilizers. The tentative budgetary requirement for Rabi season 2024 was over 24,000 crore rupees.
