Over one crore 24 lakh farmers have benefitted from paddy procurement during Kharif Marketing Season 2022-23. Minister of State for Consumer Affairs Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti said this in a written reply to a question in Lok Sabha today.

She said, more than 846 lakh tonnes of paddy were procured during the same period. Ms Jyoti said, Food Corporation of India, (FCI) and all the procuring States have developed their own Online Procurement System to ensure transparency and convenience to the farmers through proper registration and monitoring of actual procurement. The Minister said, the estimates for procurement of paddy are finalized by Centre in consultation with State Governments and FCI, before the commencement of each marketing season.
