Over crore representations received by JPC constituted to review the Waqf (Amendment) Bill: Union Minister Rijiju

Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju has expressed hope that the Joint Committee of Parliament, constituted to review the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, is likely to submit its report by the first week of the upcoming Winter Session of Parliament. He said more than one crore representations have been received so far by the Committee.
Briefing media on 100 days achievements of the Ministry of Minority Affairs in the Modi 3.0 government, the Minister said, extensive consultations are underway and the Committee is seeking views and suggestions from various government and social organizations. He said, earlier also the amendments have been done in the Waqf Bill but this time consultations are taking place in a wider scale which is good for democracy.
Highlighting the government initiatives taken for the wellbeing of minorities communities under the Modi government, Mr. Rijiju said, the government is ensuring welfare of all the minorities and providing them a safe environment and better opportunities. He said, as part of its 100 days’ programme, the Ministry of Minority Affairs has organized Lok Samvardhan Parv this year in Delhi Haat to provide a platform to artisan of minorities communities to showcase their exquisite handicraft and handloom products. He said, the government has also extended credit of over 1000 crore rupees to over two lakh 50 thousand beneficiaries during the financial year 2024-25. Speaking on Haj Yatra, the Minister pointed out that Haj Suvidha App was launched for the benefit of all Haj Pilgrims. Haj Suvidha app provides necessary information and direct access to important services like Training modules, Flight Details, Accommodation, Emergency Helpline, and Health to pilgrims. He said, over one lakh 75 thousand pilgrims visit Mecca every year from India.
