Over 99% of ration cards are Aadhaar seeded in the country: Govt replies in LS

The Government today said, over 99 percent of ration cards are Aadhaar seeded in the country till date. This information was given by the Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti in Lok Sabha. In a written reply, she said that the Government has extended the timeline given to States and Union Territories for completing the Aadhaar seeding of ration cards by September this year. Sadhvi Jyoti informed that all States and Union Territories have been advised that no genuine beneficiary and household shall be d from the list of eligible ration cards. She added eligible beneficiaries shall not be denied their entitled quota of food grains under National Food Security Act 2013 only for want of an Aadhaar number or only on the ground of not possessing an Aadhaar number, failure of biometric authentication due to network or any other technical reasons.
