Under the Jal Jeevan Mission, the government has provided tap water connections to over 77 per cent rural households across India. Answering to supplementaries during the question hour in Lok Sabha Union Jal Shakti Minister C R Patil said, Narendra Modi government has started this scheme in the year 2019 and along with that, 15 crore households have been provided with tap water connection so far. Mr Patil added, according to a study, clean and safe drinking water provided to the households have saved over eight lakh crore rupees by eliminating diseases.
