Over 7 crore 70 lakh cases resolved in 2023 through National Lok Adalats, says Justice B R Gavai

Supreme Court Judge and Executive Chairman of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), Justice B.R. Gavai, has highlighted several initiatives launched by NALSA to provide legal aid to vulnerable groups, including disaster victims, tribal communities and victims of trafficking and acid attacks.
 
 
 
In an interview on the occasion of Human Rights Day, Justice Gavai emphasized NALSA’s efforts to support women affected by violence by facilitating compensation and providing legal aid to prisoners.
 
 
 
Justice Gavai shared his vision as the Executive Chairman of NALSA, stating that his priority is to make legal services accessible in the remotest parts of the country to ensure free legal aid reaches every needy individual.
 
 
 
Justice Gavai also mentioned that over 7 crore 70 lakh cases were resolved this year through three National Lok Adalats organized by NALSA.He further noted that National Lok Adalats, held thrice a year across the country, have become an effective mechanism for expediting justice and reducing the pendency of cases in courts.
