In Chhattisgarh, more than 63 percent polling was recorded in Maoist affected Bastar LokSabha constituency. Polling was by and large peaceful.

Akashwani correspondent reports that the people of Maoist affected tribal Bastar region of Chhattisgarh today gave a strong message to the undemocratic forces by choosing ballet over the bullet. Bastar is one of the few constituencies where women voter outnumbered men. Today the voters of Bastar region, specially, female voters showed great enthusiasm in exercising their franchise. After the first phase of election in Chhattisgarh, the electoral fate of eleven candidates of Bastar constituency were sealed in EVMs today.
