The Minister of State in the Ministry of Education, Jayant Chaudhary, has informed us that over 63.17 lakh teachers were trained under different NISHTHA programs conducted by NCERT in three years from 2019 to 2022. The National Initiative for School Heads and Teachers Holistic Advancement, or NISHTHA programme, organised by the Ministry, has focused on enhancing teacher competency and fostering innovative pedagogical practices by integrating technology into education. Giving this information during the Question Hour in Lok Sabha today, the minister informed that NISHTHA plays a pivotal role in improving teaching quality, fostering equity, and achieving the National Education Policy goal of creating a vibrant, inclusive, and future-ready education system.
Since October 2021, online training is imparted in cyber safety and security to over three lakh 83 thousand teachers. The minister has further informed that physical upgradation of all 613 functional District Institutes of Education and Training (DIET) is taken up in a phased manner in order to strengthen the in-service training.
