Union Health Ministry today informed that more than three crore 39 lakh Sickle Cell screening records have been uploaded on the National Sickle Cell Anaemia Elimination Mission (NSCAEM) portal till date. The Ministry added that more than one crore 12 lakh Sickle Cell Status ID cards have been distributed.
Regarding the World Sickle Cell Day yesterday, the ministry said that around 45 thousand events were organized across the country in 17 high-budget states and 343 districts under the NSCAEM. The Ministry added that under these events, more than 6 lakh 15 thousand people were screened for sickle cell disease and around three lakh Sickle Cell ID cards were distributed to the screened beneficiaries.
Meanwhile, the awareness activities which started yesterday will continue for the next 15 days at all facilities in 343 districts in 17 identified SCD states. The Ministry said that the target for the next 15 days is to screen 10 lakh individuals and distribute 3 lakh Sickle Cell Status ID cards to screened individuals.
