In Assam, over 24 lakh people are reeling under the fury of floods in the state. Several rivers, including the Brahmaputra, are flowing above the danger level due to incessant rains. Huge agricultural areas are also submerged due to the floods. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today visited flood-hit areas of Dibrugarh to take stock of the situation. Relief materials are being distributed to the flood-affected people by the district administrations. Our correspondent reports that several national parks and wildlife sanctuaries are also inundated due to the floods. The Kaziranga National Park authority has rescued nearly 100 wild animals so far. However, 77 animals died due to the floods at Kaziranga National Park.
