Over 14 lakh 83 thousand accounts have been opened under the Mahila Samman Savings Certificate Scheme with total deposits of over eight thousand crore rupees. Minister for State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary said this in a written reply to a question in Lok Sabha today. He said, the newly launched small savings scheme is exclusively for women and girls. Mr Chaudhary said, government has authorised the Department of Posts, all Public Sector Banks, and four Private Sector Banks to operate Mahila Samman Savings Scheme. The Scheme has been made available for a two-year period up to March 2025. The Minister said, an application for opening an account can be submitted on or before the 31st March 2025.
