The government has said that a total of over one crore 18 lakh houses have been sanctioned so far under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana- Urban. Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Tokhan Sahu said this in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha today. He said, that of the total sanctioned houses, more than one crore 14 lakh lakh have been grounded for construction and over 85 lakh have been completed. Mr Sahu said, the Ministry supplements the efforts of States and UTs by providing Central assistance under the scheme since 2015 to provide pucca houses with basic civic amenities to all eligible urban beneficiaries across the country.
