Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai has informed that an overall outlay of 4846 crore rupees is approved under the scheme of assisting the states and union territories for the modernisation of police. In his reply in Rajya Sabha today, the minister said that the objective of the scheme is to equip the police forces in states and Union Territories with modern technology, weaponry, and communication equipment along with the construction of police stations. It also includes mobility and construction of other police infrastructure, including housing. The overall outlay for the scheme is for five years, from 2021-22 to 2025-26.
