Opposition today staged a walkout from the Rajya Sabha demanding the enactment of a law for Minimum Support Prices for food grains. When the House met this morning, Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar rejected the adjournment notices given by Opposition members on the issues including MSP, cyclone fengal, Sambhal violence and alleged bribery charges against a prominent business group. Members from Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party started sloganeering demanding a law for MSP. The Chairman wondered why no adjournment notice was given last week on farmers’ issues and the time of the House was wasted in disruption. Some Opposition members objected to Mr Dhankhar’s remarks. Congress member Pramod Tiwari accused the government of not fulfilling the demands related to MSP. He urged the Chairman to ask the Government to pass a law on MSP. Later, members from Congress, NCP(SP), AAP, Shivsena (UBT) and others staged a walkout from the Upper House.
