Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Anurag Singh Thakur said that one thousand Khelo India centers will be opened across the country by the end of this year.

Replying to supplementaries during the Question Hour in the Rajya Sabha today, Mr Thakur said, the government is continuously working to promote sports in the country. He said, two Khelo India centers are being opened in each district of the Northeast region. The Minister said, 227 Khelo India centers have been opened in the North Eastern States so far. Mr Thakur said, 75 projects related to sporting activities worth 520 crore rupees are underway in the North East region.
