In Jammu and Kashmir, a terrorist was killed as an encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists at village Gunda Khawas in Koteranka tehsil of Budhal area of Rajouri district on Sunday (6 August 2023). AIR correspondent reports that there were reports that two to three more terrorists could be trapped in the area. 

Army, CRPF, SOG, and Police on Saturday evening launched a search operation at Gunda Khwas after specific input about the presence of a group of terrorists in the area to undertake terror activities ahead of Independence Day celebrations. In the initial exchange of firing, one terrorist was killed in the gun battle. Additional DGP Jammu Zone, Mukesh Singh said that the encounter was going on. As per reports, number of the terrorists could be between three to four, and one of them has been killed. The troops have cordoned the area.
