The government today informed the Rajya Sabha that around one crore 19 lakh houses have been sanctioned under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana- Urban, PMAY-U so far. In a written reply in the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Housing and  Urban Affairs,  Kaushal Kishore said that of the sanctioned houses, around one crore 12 lakh houses have been grounded for construction, out of which 75.31 lakh have been completed. He said, during the last three years, 39.63 lakh houses have been completed.
 
The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs is implementing PMAY-U  since 2015 to provide pucca houses with basic amenities to all eligible urban beneficiaries across the country.
