Odisha: Scorching heat shatters 15-year-old record for April in Jharsuguda

In Odisha, several parts of the state are experiencing severe heatwave conditions, affecting normal lives. Jharsuguda city in western Odisha today witnessed an extreme rise in temperature, with the mercury soaring to 46.2 degree Celsius, the first time this year that any place in Odisha has crossed the 46 degrees Celsius mark. The scorching heat shattered a 15-year-old record for April in Jharsuguda. The authorities have decided to close all schools in Jharsuguda district from tomorrow till 25th of this month. There seems to be no respite on the cards for the people of Odisha as the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange warning for eight districts of the state tomorrow. The IMD has warned of severe heatwave conditions to continue for the next three to four days.
