Odisha: President Murmu offers prayers at Jagannath Temple in Puri

President Droupadi Murmu visited the 12th Century Sri Jagannath Temple in the holy town of Puri in Odisha this morning. She offered prayers to Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra inside the temple and visited the premises along with Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and other dignitaries. President Murmu also attended the 75th convocation of Gopabandhu Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya in Puri. The President is in Puri to attend the annual Navy Day being organised by the Indian Navy as Chief Guest at the Blue Flag Beach this afternoon. The event marks the anniversary of Operation Trident, a critical naval offensive during the 1971 Indo-Pak War. It will showcase over 15 ships, submarines, and more than 40 aircraft, with support from Marine Commandos and personnel from the Indian Army. Aiming to highlight the Navy’s capabilities and its dedication to protecting India’s maritime interests, the event will demonstrate aerial manoeuvres by MiG-29K and Hawk fighter jets, combat exercises by MARCOS, submarine operations, amphibious landings, and rocket firing from warships.
