Member of NITI Aayog, Dr VK Saraswat has highlighted the Centre’s Panchamrit targets and said that the government is fully committed to achieving the targets. He was addressing the inaugural session of the Energy Storage Conference under the theme- ’Shaping Frameworks, Technology, and Strategic Partnerships’ in New Delhi today.
Mr Saraswat said, Nuclear energy is going to play a pivotal role in Energy Transition. Mr. Saraswat added that India holds 4th rank globally in Renewable Energy Installed Capacity, 4th in Wind Power capacity and 5th in Solar Power capacity. He stated that in order to facilitate the shift to sustainable energy, a nationally accredited testing and certification facility for energy storage systems is required.
He added that the Government aims to deploy over two thirty-eight gigawatt hours of battery storage capacity by 2030 to balance its expanding renewable energy network.
