Nomination filing for the first phase of the election has started in West Bengal. The last date of filing nomination is 27th March. Alipurduar, Jalpaiguri, Coochbehar will go to poll on 19th April. Expenditure observers have already taken charge. General and police observers will arrive shortly. Expectations is very high from all political parties. To do a free and fair election central forces have already arrived and doing route marches.
Akashvani’s correspondent reports that West Bengal will witness the Lok Sabha election in seven phases for all its forty-two constituencies. Under the first phase on 19th April, vote will be taken in Alipurduar – Coochbehar and Jalpaiguri constituencies. Nomination filing is already is in progress. Other polling dates are 26th April, 13th May, 20th May, 25th May and 1st June. There are more than seven crore electors in the state, out of which female voters are three crore seventy three lakhs forty-eight thousand five hundred eleven. The percentage of first-time voters is 2.07. There will be eighty thousand five hundred thirty polling stations out of which nearly six thousand will be managed by women and twenty-four polling stations will be managed by Divyang jans. Campaigning for the election has already started and different political parties have started declaring candidates. There will be by-elections in two assembly constituencies in Bhagawangola and Baranagar on 7th May and 1st June.
