Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari today attended the swearing-in ceremony of Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian in the capital Tehran. Mr Gadkari conveyed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s wishes to President Pezeshkian on assuming office.

A statement released by the Ministry of External Affairs said that the two sides also assessed the state of bilateral relations, including cooperation on the development of Chabahar Port. It further said that both sides also underscored that Chabahar Port would contribute to strengthening bilateral and regional trade. The Ministry added that Chabahar Port would provide access to landlocked Afghanistan and Central Asian countries to regional and global markets.
