Nine candidates in fray for 1st phase of Lok Sabha election in Tripura

There will be nine candidates in fray for the April 19 poll in the first phase of Lok Sabha election in Tripura. Today on the last day of withdrawal of nomination, none of the candidates withdrew their nomination papers. The nine candidates who are in fray are Biplab Kumar Deb from the Bharatiya Janata Party, Ashish Kumar Saha from the Indian National Congress, Milan Pada Murasingh an independent candidate, Gaurishankar Nandy from Amra Bangali Party, Brajlal Debnath from the Bahujan Mukti Party, Ramendra Reang (Independent), Republican Party of India (A) nominee Arnab Roy, SUCIC candidate Aun Kumar Bhowmik and Balaram Debbarma (Independent).

 

Talking to Akashvani News, Agartala, Returning Officer of Tripura (West) Lok Sabha constituency, Dr. Vishal Kumar said that the statutory 7A papers are ready. The symbols have been allotted to the political parties. Besides, appointment of polling personnel has been done and they have been imparted training twice.

 

The RO said that 14 companies of CAPF have already been deployed on duty in Tripura West seat and 14 more companies are expected to reach Agartala by today or tomorrow.

Dr. Kumar said that from 9th April onwards home voting will begin for eligible Divyang voters and for those who are 85 years and above.
