The NIA today filed a chargesheet against four CPI-Maoist cadres in a case relating to firing at the commandos of the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the Kerala Police at Thalappuzha in Wayanad district in November last year. Those chargesheeted include two absconders in the case.

The chargesheet was filed before the Special Court handling NIA cases in Kochi. The  SOG team came under attack when it zoomed in on the Maoist cadres present in a house, during a combing operation in the area. Two Maoists, Thiruvenkidam and Shreemathi were arrested, while two others, Latha and Sundari managed to escape. The NIA took over the investigation from the Kerala Police in February.
