NIA conducted searches in Chhattisgarh in connection with CPI (Maoist)-led IED attack

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has conducted searches at multiple locations in Chhattisgarh in connection with the CPI (Maoist)-led IED attack on a poll party convoy during last year’s Assembly elections in the state. The extensive searches were carried out by the NIA team at the premises of six suspects in the Naxal-infested area of village Badegobra yesterday.

During the investigation, several mobile phones and 2 lakh 98 thousand rupees in cash were seized from the premises of suspects believed to be working as overground workers or supporters of the Mainpur-Nuapada division of the banned CPI (Maoist) outfit. A head constable of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) was injured in the attack that took place in November 2023. The NIA, which had taken over the case in February 2024, had identified the CPI (Maoist) cadres as the perpetrators of the attack.
