The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) issued yesterday, a notice to the Bihar Government over the reported assault of an SC woman on failing to pay interest on a loan in Patna. Taking suo motu cognizance of a media report, the Commission asked the State Chief Secretary and the Director General of Bihar Police to send a detailed report within four weeks in this regard. The Commission has also advised to include the status of the FIR, the physical and mental health status of the victim woman, and any potential compensation in the report.
