Lakhs of youth from different parts of Nepal participated in Yuva Mahotsav of CPN UML party on the occasion of Loktantra Day today. ‘Youth Celebration’ programme was organised in Bhrikutimandap of Kathmandu. Youth groups with banners from different districts paraded on Exhibition Road with their district banners, waving party flags and playing traditional musical instruments, filling the air with youthful courage and vibes.
CPN (UML) General Secretary Shankar Pokhrel urged the Nepali youth migrant workers to return home and work for the nation-building process. He stated that the country could not grasp the pace of development due to political instability, and youth as a strong national force should join hands to maintain political stability.
In 2021, Nepal’s youth population aged 15 to 40 years old accounted for a significant 42.6% of the total population. This 12.4 million large youth population represents a potential demographic dividend for Nepal. Along with demographic advantages that offer opportunities, it also presents challenges, including a high unemployment rate and unequal representation in government.Youth migration is another challenge that Nepal is facing, with many villages left barren as old men’s homes.
