Nepal: Search operation resumes for 2 passenger buses swept by landslide

Teams of Nepali Army, Nepal Police and armed police personnel including deep divers are at the incident site where two buses with almost 60 passengers fell in Trishuli River has resumed the search for the second day. The families of those who have gone missing in the accident that led to two passenger buses plunging into the Trishuli river in Chitwan have demanded that the search for their loved ones be more effective by use of necessary technology and tools.

Two passenger buses including one heading to Gaur from Kathmandu and another going to Kathmandu from Birgunj were swept away by landslides into the Trishuli river on Friday morning at Simaltal, falling under Bharatpur metropolis.

Due to the high flow and current of water in the river remaining high and difficulty in finding the missing in the muddy water at night, trained groups of the Nepal Army, Armed Police Force and Nepal Police have resumed rescue operations from today morning.

More than fifty families are suffering following the accident. Among the passengers who were in the fatal accident, three people survived miraculously by swimming out of the flooded river.
