Nepal was defeated by Bangladesh in the final match of the South Asian Football Federation women’s Championship that was being played in Dashrath Stadium in Kathmandu. Prime Minister of Nepal K P Sharma Oli announced a cash prize as an incentive for the Nepali women’s Football team, which came as first runner-up in the SAFF Women’s Championship 2024.

Prime Minister Oli said the government was supportive of promoting sports and athletes. The national women’s football team winning the silver medal in the Championship concluded on Wednesday will be given the cash prize shortly after the Tihar festival. The government has announced to award the team members with Rs 300,000 each. The government has withdrawn the taxation on prize amounts.
