National workshop on Women’s Leadership in Panchayats is underway in New Delhi

A national workshop on Women’s Leadership in Panchayats is underway in New Delhi. Over 160 Panchayat representatives across the country are participating in the workshop. Addressing the workshop, former Lt. Governor of Puducherry, Kiran Bedi highlighted the issues of Panchayat at ground level and suggested their solutions to Panchayat representatives. She said the Panchayat sarpanch should take responsibility because two-thirds of the country lives in rural India.

 

Talking to Akashvani News, elected representatives of Panchayats shared their experience of the workshop. One of Gram Pradhans from Uttrakhand, Tabassum Imran said that this workshop will help in improving the work. Elected representatives of Panchayat from Madhya Pradesh, Manju Chouksey said that she is doing work on the ground in her village as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is doing for the country.

 

Akashvani’s correspondent reports that these elected representatives will also participate as special guests in the Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort in Delhi tomorrow. The National Workshop will also be addressed by several prominent personalities. Union Minister of Panchayati Raj, Rajiv Ranjan Singh and Minister of State for Panchayati Raj Prof. S.P. Singh Baghel will felicitate these participants.
