In the week-long celebration of National Sports Day to promote fitness and to encourage indigenous sports under the Fit India Mission, the Embassy of India in Nepal organized a full-day sports event titled "Aau Khel Khelau" in association with the National Police Training Academy, Kathmandu.
 
The event promoted indigenous sports like Lagori (Pittu/Paan-Dhunge), Rumal Lukai, Kho-Kho, Tug of War, and Kabbadi. Several Nepal celebrities such as actor Nikhil Uprety, singer Mahesh Kafle, and many others attended the event and played opposite Indian Embassy officials in Tug of War.
 
Chief Guest of the event, Minister for Youth and Sports Mr Dig Bahadur Limbu said that indigenous sports, which are being lost, must be made popular among youth. DCM Prasanna Shrivastava said that this year's theme of National Sports Day is to promote sports as the enabler of a fit society and we have many traditional sports as part of our culture.
