On the opening day of the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary, today, National record holder and 3000-meter steeplechaser Avinash Sable failed to qualify for the final round of the Championships.
Akashdeep Singh, Vikash Singh and Paramjeet Singh Bisht finished last in the men's 20km race walk final, while teenager Shaili Singh also failed to make the women's long jump final.
Indian athletes are competing for medals in 15 events – 11 for men and four for women – at the World Championships.
