IMD forecast rainfall over several parts of Northern India; Delhi experience heavy rain, providing much-needed relief to people from intense heatwave

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast light to moderate rainfall over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, West Rajasthan today. IMD also predicted heavy rainfall in the regions of Assam, Meghalaya, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim and Bihar today. Light to moderate rainfall is also likely in these regions till sunday. The Weather agency said, isolated heavy rainfall is very likely over Jharkhand, Odisha, Uttarakhand, East Rajasthan, East and  West Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and over Punjab from tomorrow to 30th June.

 

Meanwhile, various parts of Delhi and its adjoining areas received moderate to heavy rainfall this morning. In Delhi, the minimum temperature was recorded 28.6 degree Celsius while the maximum temperature remained 39 degree Celsisus.

 

The pre-monsoon showers brought much needed respite to the people from the hot and humid weather conditions in the National Capital and its adjoining areas. The rainfall also brought down the temperature making the weather pleasant. Areas including Sarita Vihar, Munirka, Laxmi Nagar, Noida and Ghaziabad witnessed heavy rainfall. The rainfall also caused waterlogging in various areas affecting traffic movement in some parts of the regions. According to IMD, Delhi has recorded 5.2 millimeter rainfall so far. Light to moderate intensity of rain in the National Capital regions are also expected today.
