The National Action Plan For Drug Demand Reduction (NAPDDR) is being implemented for reducing consumption of drugs and controlling drug addiction in the country.
In a written reply to a question in Lok Sabha , Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment B L Verma under this centrally sponsored program currently 347 Integrated Rehabilitation Centres of Addicts ( IRCA) and 46 Community based Peer-Led Intervention ( CPLI) are functional in the country. He also added that 71 DDAC and 74 ODICs are being run with the help of the country and in addition to this a toll free helpline number 14446 being maintained by the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment.
Mr. Verma said that the Ministry has identified 272 most vulnerable districts under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA).
He said under this campaign reach-out drives are being taken to aware masses and spread awareness in higher educational institutions, university campuses and different schools. The Minister also informed that under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) more than 13.57 crore people have been sensitized which includes more than 4.42 crore Youth and 2.71 crore women across the country.
