Nagaland Minister C L John Urges Collective Responsibility for Wildlife Conservation

Nagaland Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, C. L. John has emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in preserving and protecting wildlife. Ahead of the weeklong celebrations of  Wildlife Week 2024 across the country, from 2nd to 8th October, the Minister in a message called upon the people to reaffirm their duty to protect and preserve their natural heritage.

 

Highlighting the state’s progress in wildlife conservation, the Minister expressed pride in the growing number of Community Reserves that have been established across nearly 200 villages. He described the initiative as a demonstration of the state’s commitment to wildlife protection.

 

Mr John also pointed out the international recognition received for the successful conservation of the Amur Falcon, a migratory bird that has become a symbol of the state’s conservation efforts.     

 

Minister John also called on individuals, schools, village institutions, and civil society organizations (CSOs) to actively participate in the various programs.

 

The Minister further urged the public to rededicate themselves to the cause of nature and environmental conservation.

 

Wildlife Week 2024 promises to be a meaningful occasion, emphasizing coexistence between humans and nature as a cornerstone of conservation efforts, he asserted

 

Meanwhile, the  State Department of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change will be organizing a series of events and programs to engage various sections of society.

 

The annual event will be celebrated under the theme, “Wildlife Conservation Through Coexistence.”
