Nagaland got its first Histopathology Unit at Naga Hospital Authority Kohima,NHAK. Vice Chairman of NITI Aayog Suman Kumar Bery on Tuesday officially inaugurated the laboratory by the unveiling of Plaque.
The “State of Art” Histopathology Laboratory, funded by Numaligarh Refinery Ltd under the Corporate Social Responsibility, CSR, will play a pivotal role in early cancer detection. Numaligarh Refinery Limited has contributed over 1.28 crore rupees for procuring histopathology equipment.
In addition, Doctors For You will fund approximately 40 lakhs to support the training of manpower and provide additional resources when needed. Speaking at the programme, Vice Chairman of NITI Aayog Suman Kumar Bery said, CSR initiatives with the involvement of various agencies are making huge differences and impacting society and the environment.
Mr. Bery also emphasised mobilising CSR resources and its creditability. Managing Director NHAK, Dr. Sendimeren Aonok termed it a historic moment for the state. He said, the histopathology unit being the first in the state is the need of the hour in addressing the rise of cancer in the state.
Short speeches were also delivered by the Chief General Manager of HR & Legal, Numaligarh Refinery Limited Dr. Kajal Saikia, and the President of Doctors for You, Dr. Rajat Jain.
