NABARD Chairman Shaji Krishnan met Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu at his Undavalli residence last night. He assured full support to enhance agriculture and rural development in the state. The Chief Minister expressed satisfaction with NABARD’s decision to relocate its regional office from Hyderabad to Vijayawada. Discussions were held on key areas, including agriculture, rural infrastructure, micro and small industries, and fisheries development. The meeting also reviewed the utilization of ₹450 crore sanctioned under the Fisheries and Aquaculture Infrastructure Development Fund (FIDF) for fisheries development and constructing fishing harbours.
The NABARD Chairman praised Andhra Pradesh’s Primary Agricultural Cooperative Credit Society as a model for the country. He also committed to completing the iconic NABARD building in Amaravati within 18 months. The Chief Minister highlighted the importance of viability gap funding under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) for Public-Private Partnership projects. The Chairman promised additional allocations under RIDF and subsidies for cooperative societies.
