Mysuru Akashvani radio station is celebrating its 90th anniversary today. It was in 1935 that Mysuru, which was a princely state then, got its first radio station. Since then the radio station has provided air space to some of the prominent literary personalities and reputed musicians. To mark the 90th anniversary, a day-long celebration is organised today. The Director General of Akashvani and News Services Division Dr Pragya Paliwal Gaur will inaugurate ‘Nudi Naada Sangama’, a cultural extravaganza today in Mysuru radio station. Sutturu Srikshetra matt pontiff Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji, the scion of the Mysuru royal family Pramodadevi Wadiyar and senior scholar Dr T V Venkatachala Shastri will grace the occasion. Cycle rallies, cultural programmes from college students, performances by folk troupes, classical and light music recitals, and fusion music will be organised as part of the joyous occasion. Eminent personalities will be honoured on this occasion. The family members of late M V Gopalaswamy well known as MVG who was the founder of the Mysore radio station in his individual capacity in 1935 and the station’s first Assistant Director late Na Kasturi are invited for the programme.
