Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said music and dance are languages that transcend borders and are universally understood. In a special message for the first-ever International Festival on Indian Dance being held in New Delhi, Mr Modi highlighted the significance of dance for the younger generation. He called it an integral part of India’s cultural identity. He mentioned that the earliest scriptures dedicated to performing arts were written by Bharat Muni in India. He emphasized that engaging youth in such festivals helps them stay connected to their roots and strengthens their role in nation-building.
The six-day festival being hosted by Sangeet Natak Akademi was inaugurated by Culture and Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat today. The event brings together artists, scholars, and students to celebrate and explore the diversity and richness of Indian dance forms.
