MoUs for Four Projects in Education Sector and Water Supply & Sanitation Sector to be implemented under GoI Grant Assistance in Nepal

The Embassy of India in Kathmandu and the Government of Nepal today signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) for undertaking four High Impact Community Development Projects (HICDPs) in Nepal to provide better education facilities, water supply and sanitation facilities for the local community. Three projects are in education sector and one in Water Supply and Sanitation under the grant assistance of Government of India at an estimated cost of 170 million Nepalese rupee.

Two school buildings will be constructed in the district of Darchula in Sudurpaschim province of West Nepal. One school will be constructed in Sankhuwasabha district of Koshi Province in East Nepal. Construction of Shreepur Water Supply and Sanitation Project in Udayapur district of East Nepal shall be implemented through local authorities of Triyuga Municipality.

Since 2003, India has taken up 546 HICDPs costing around 1220 crore Nepalese rupee in the areas of health, education, drinking water, connectivity, sanitation and creation of other public utilities across all 7 provinces of Nepal.
